Contemporary lifestyle - what is it?

Gary and Sue believe that fashion, style and photography run alongside one another. Their unique style is a blend of photojournalism - telling the real story of your day, with classical photographic techniques - which is using the lighting and backgrounds available in the most flattering way, to give you a truly beautiful photographic record of your day - without it feeling like spending hours with the 'official photographer'.

How do you photograph a wedding?

Gary and Sue believe that they should tell the story of your wedding day in pictures, capturing the emotions and spirit of your day. They will be well dressed, on time, as well as being polite and courteous at all times. Where they do have an involvement they will make it as enjoyable as possible - after all, happy people enjoying themselves feel more relaxed and actually photograph better. (Take a quick visit to the testimonials page and have a read of the comments - which Gary and Sue treasure and keep safely).

Do you employ any other photographers?

In a word - NO! Gary and Sue only photograph one wedding on a day, and they work together. They work very much as a team, with quite specific roles on the day. Feedback from previous couples has shown them that the two different angles and viewpoints are what today's couples are really looking for. Sue's female viewpoint and her background as a hairdresser mean that she will pick up on things that very few men will see, while Gary's sense of humour and fun with his technical skills as a multi award winning photographer will keep your day running with a smile that is easy, natural and believable, and more importantly - enjoyable!

Will you photograph any formal groups?

Gary and Sue realise that your wedding album will be used in years to come as a visual record of your nearest (and dearest?). They do suggest that you have up to six small (-ish) groups that will not take up too much of your time, but will become more valuable with the passing of time.

Do you use digital cameras?

Yes! Gary and Sue are totally digital based. They feel that the quality and control now available from the latest cameras equals and possibly exceeds that of film cameras. From capture to production, enhancement and security, they do it all. Within hours of returning Gary and Sue will have several copies of your wedding in TWO locations in case of fire or theft. With film there was only ever one copy, that used to go back and fore between the studio and the lab, how did photographers manage for all those years? Come and see the difference.

Do you charge extra for retouching?

Being fully digital Gary and Sue assess every picture that they take and automatically do any re-touching that they feel necessary. This is all included as part of the service.

How far will you travel to photograph a wedding?

Distance is no object, as long as it fits in with existing bookings. Gary and Sue regularly travel across the UK and where a lot of motorway driving is needed, due to the risk of traffic jams they will discuss with couples about overnight 'Travel Lodge' type accommodation. Fees will be quoted on an individual basis.

Do winter weddings cause you any problems?

Absolutely not! Gary and Sue photograph lots of weddings during the winter months. They will capture the warmth of the atmosphere and surroundings. As the light fades, they can supplement with additional lighting, but that happens in our British summers too!

How do we choose our wedding pictures?

Within about ten days, while you on your honeymoon, you should be able to log on to this web-site and see a 'sneaky-preview' of your wedding. Most couples can't wait to see their wedding pictures, so Gary and Sue will choose 20 - 25 from the final selection of 200 to 300 images and load them on to the site for you to have a look at while you are away. When you return from your honeymoon, you will be invited back to the studio when you will be able to choose the images for your album with help from Sue and / or Gary. After this viewing (we want you to have the excitement of being the first to see all your images) your guests, friends and relatives will be able to see your images on-line, but only with a login code - you choose who sees your wedding. You will also have a digital proof album to show people who may not have access to computers.

Do you shoot colour and black and white pictures?

YES! Gary and Sue will look at each and every shot and judge it on its own merits. Blinks and duplicates will be removed and you will then choose which angle, viewpoint, from the colour or black and white images best suits your album as you would like it.

Can you choose the images and design an album for us?

More and more couples are asking Gary and Sue to use their skills and design the complete album for them. This will be done with pleasure, but you will still be given a proof design to make sure that you approve of all the images used. They would hate to use an image that you didn't totally love.

Can we have a say in the design of our album?

Yes Please!!! Gary and Sue absolutely love it when couples have their own input with the album design.

What coverages do you offer?

Over the years Gary and Sue have designed 'collections' to suit most weddings from the mid week low key wedding to the mid summer weekend wedding with an evening dance or ball and fireworks. And then they still get asked for something different! For this reason Gary and Sue like to find out as many details, requests, likes and dislikes before finalising on any one collection. All collections have the most stunning hand made, book bound albums from Italy and Australia (Unless their research shows that there is something better somewhere else). You will have the choice of colours and interiors to match your wedding, and Sue will give her advice should you feel you need it.

How do friends and relatives order the pictures they want?

When you collect (or receive) your 'digiproof' album there are easy to complete forms at the back, on which all guests can make their orders for pictures in folders, albums, frames etc. For people with internet access, after you have seen your wedding images, they will be uploaded to a secure site for people to view and buy if they want to.

Do we have to feed you?

If you would like Gary and Sue to photograph your wedding through the speeches and the evening dance, they will not have time to eat a full meal, however - they will always appreciate a round of sandwiches, as the ones they bring with them will probably be either dried out or soggy by this time!

What would happen if you were ill?

This is a question asked by almost all couples. Gary and Sue would have to be very seriously ill to not attend a wedding. In such a situation they would take every possible step to get the wedding covered by another qualified photographer. They have both covered weddings for other photographers in the past, and it is an unsaid rule within their photographer friends that no stone would be left unturned in an effort to find a photographer to cover a wedding in those circumstances.

In the eventuality of a breakdown, accident, or traffic delay on the way to your wedding, they would make every effort to contact you by mobile phone to keep you advised of progress etc. For this reason they suggest that where the journey to a wedding is more than one and a half hours, or involves a lot of motorway driving, that an overnight stay the night before is discussed and planned. They also strongly recommend that you take out wedding insurance to cover these circumstances beyond anybody's control, and it will also cover you if you became ill. By the very nature of the insurance, it is very reasonably priced and does give you peace of mind.

Can we see complete albums that you have done?

Absolutely! Gary and Sue actually suggest that when you are looking to find your wedding photographer, that you ask to see complete albums that the photographer has done recently. Do not judge a wedding photographer on the best 20 pictures that he or she has done, ask to see complete albums. If you can take the time to come to the studio Gary and Sue will show you, on a screen complete weddings exactly as their couples saw them, weddings in similar locations to yours, weddings done in the rain, the sun, the winter, the summer. You will also be able to see finished albums showing final print quality and the latest album designs.

How long do you keep copies of the pictures?

All digital images are burnt to DVD and stored at two separate locations so that they can be recalled for the life of the DVD. Gary and Sue do suggest that couples contact them after 5 years.

Why do you suggest that we meet for a pre wedding shoot and chat?

The pre wedding shoot is not only an opportunity for you experience being in front of the camera, but also to help build up the relationship with Gary and Sue to enable them to get really great shots of you on your wedding day.

It is also the chance to let Gary and Sue know any special groups you or your parents might like in your final album. They will also give you the confidence to know what will happen if the sun shines, or it rains or snows or whatever the weather decides to do! AND STILL GET GREAT IMAGES!

Why does it take two qualified photographers to capture our day?

Due to today's requirements for more 'relaxed informal photography' in the time allowed, Gary and Sue work hard and fast so that you can enjoy the day more - and get those great images from two perspectives of the wedding.

Can our guests take pictures?

Yes with pleasure, it's your wedding, they are your guests. Gary and Sue welcome them to take pictures for their own record - preferably from behind Gary and Sue - not in front of them!!

Do you have professional insurance?

Gay and Sue are fully insured for public liability and professional indemnity as per the guidelines of the Master Photographers Association.

Are you full-time, qualified photographers?

Gary and Sue are both fully qualified, registered Master Photographers. Gary is also one of a unique group of qualified Craftsmen of the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers. They are both full time photographers, and as such can never be forced by an employer to work on your wedding day!
